A Career as an X-Ray Tech

July 26th, 2010 by admin

Are you seeking a career in health care that is well paid, rewarding and takes relatively a short time in school? Look no further than becoming the next radiology technician  . You probably have many questions about the compensation, job description, and working hours.

The main job of an X-ray tech is to take radiographs (xrays), verify that they meet the standards of quality, and help the medical imaging doctor in providing an excellent medical service.

In addition, the  radiologist  tech is in charge of  maintaining and ensuring the proper  operation  of the x-ray equipment  in the diagnostic radiology  department or center.

The radiologist technician interacts directly with patients having the xray tests and ensures their proper placement for these x-ray images. Once a study is finished, the technician verifies that all the areas which should be evaluated are correctly included and that all xray pics are properly exposed. They look at the picture parameters such as exposure and contrast.

The imaging tech next develops the pictures and runs the exam by one of the in-house radiologists that would affirm whether that test is adequate and sufficient or different views are required.

To become  a radiologist technician, a person should attend a specialized school for two to four years with the option for further specialization (and two years of further schooling) in a particular modality like MRI, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound. There are plenty of x-ray technician educational institutions in roughly every single stae and city and scholarships or school funding are offered for any searching for finance assistance.

The xray tech employment opportunities are widely available and the employment market is quite healthy and will remain as such in the near future. Marketplace demand way surpasses supply and that means serious career stability and superb recruitment likelihood directly out of school. The x-ray tech is well compensated with starting pay of $40k currently being regular for general x-ray tech with far more earning potential for experienced and specialized techs.  Tons earn at least $70,000 , a really great income, when combined with the fantastic lifestyle and relatively short period of time in college. This shows that becoming a radiologist tech is an extremely excellent and fulfilling option for a job in medical care.
