Could This Be Angina Pectoris?
I haven’t done anything active since I broke my arm in October of 2008. I mean i’ve ran a little bit, and played some soccer, but nothing major. I have always been athletic though. I weight 165 lbs. I’m only 19 years old. A couple days ago, I went to go play some soccer. It was about 85 degrees outside, wasn’t very humid. I played for about 15-20 minutes and had chest pains, trouble breathing, and my heart was racing. I would also experience dizziness every few minutes. I looked up this problem and my symptoms looked like angina Pectoris. I’m really worried, I’d say my heart rate was about 140-150 bpm. I had never felt like this before and could usually workout and run without running short of breath. Could i just be really out of shape, or is this something serious?
I would guess you are out of shape and a temperature of 85 degrees wouldn’t help.
There is great danger in the phrase ‘I looked up this problem’.
See your doctor for a proper diagnosis. We can only guess, scare you with all that could be wrong (and probably isn’t).
Book that appointment, relax and stay away from medical sites for a bit.

It appears that you do not have weight problems. (depends on your height) If you are at least 5 ft 7 inches and reasonably fit (not flabby) your weight is ok. When active, a heart rate of 150 bpm at your age is not excessive. Using one of the generally accepted formulas for maximum safe heart rate for your age, (Hmax = 220 – your age) would give 201. Being conservative due to your long period of relative inactivity, lets say your Hmax is around 185. That would be reached only with a maximum sustained effort (a minute or two) So at lets say at even 160 bpm you should be ok. While the possibility of your having a heart problem cannot be completely dismissed, it is unlikely. Your chest pain could have come from a slight muscle pull. Angina pectoris is usually associated with partially clogged coronary arteries. At 19 this is not a likely concern. Your shortness of breath and racing heart were more likely your body telling you that you are out of shape. The ambient temp of 85 certainly did not help. If those chest pains continue then get medical attention asap.

I’m 17, obviously no expert but I went to the cardiologist and was asked if I had any dizziness or shortness of breath. Those things have connections to your heart and are symptoms of heart disease/heart problems. I would make an appointment with your doctor, maybe they can refer you to a good cardiologist so you can have some tests done incase it is something serious. I wouldn’t wait to see if it happens again because that doesn’t just happen for no reason. I hope all goes well.

Please undergo cardiac stress test in an hospital. Resting heart rate of 140-150 bpm is certainly bad.
