What is angina and how do you know if its that and not a heart attack?

July 2nd, 2010 by admin

I have a spasm pain sometimes in my chest. Sort of to the left side of my right breast. Comes and goes quickly.

As a guy, I will say if its in a breast, not in your chest, it can’t be angina or a heart attack.

Angina will be pretty severe, and will go away if you rest and relax. Its a spasm in an artery of the heart. It could take 10-15 minutes.

A heart attack is usually a tear in a blockage that flops across an artery blocking it entirely. The loss of oxygen to muscle tissue will cause the pain of the heart attack, and it won’t go away if you relax. If severe enough, you may not have 15 minutes to live. Many people get no chest pain with a heart attack, so even if they recover, they have permanent damage to their heart as part of the muscle suffocates and dies.
