Is this Angina – a lot of strange symptoms..?

June 5th, 2010 by admin

45 year old male. In past year have dropped 100 pounds – now down to normal. BP = 117 / 70; last cholest check (9 months ago) doc said was fantastic. What was supposed to be low was / what was high was. Even at my heaviest my bp and chol were good.

3 weeks back something changed. Tired most all of the time. Complete loss of sex drive (not even interested in receiving oral).

Can’t explain but my eyes itch. Like their is sand behing my eyelids. Then throw on the last one..Not what I would call pain, but more like spasm / pressure that moves from behind left pec, top of left shoulder and left tricep. It can last for am hour. Does not seem to be there when I wake up.
No shooting pain down left arm. No real pain of any kind – just annoying, and also annoying trying to figure out what is going on.

In searching tonight, it appears it "could" be angina, but none of the sites referred to ANY of the other symptons..

Any insight would be appreciated. (Yes – I have physical appoint made for next week)

What a strange collection of answers you have!

With no history of coronary artery disease and the fact your blood pressure is excellent, you are not overweight and have no cholesterol issues means that angina would be unlikely. Angina generally occurs due to narrowing of the arteries in the heart, this results in a reduction of blood supply to the heart.

These symptoms could be related or may not be. Rheumatoid arthritis springs to mind but I think it’s far too early to jump to that conclusion based on a few minor symptoms.
The pain you describe sounds like muscle pain and not cardiac related. Perhaps you have just picked up a virus? Are you stressed about anything at the moment? Are you sleeping normally?

The gritty eye feeling sounds a but like dry eye/ conjunctivitis or blepharitis, your GP can give you eye drops, this should help, he’ll also show you how to clean the rim of your eye. These symptoms might not be related. Pop along to see your Doctor for another check up.

Angina is typically brought on by stress of physical or emotional type. From what you have said this does not seem the case.

You’re right to get checked out…

Do your joints hurt?? This could be an autoimmune condition such as rheumatoid arthritis or the beginning of it. RA typically causes joint pain, muscle pain, fatigue, depression, and can cuase chest pain like you have described. The chest pain is caused by rheumatoid lung nodules. RA usually begins in the 40-60 age group.

Gritty eyes can occur in RA

It really doesn’t sound like angina,my Dad has it and he has extreme pain in his arm and chest when he has attack and has collapsed 3 times and was admitted to hospital. Try not to worry, you could have a virus, be run down etc, its good that you have an appointment to put your mind at rest.

I would be concerned by the way you describe it. I think the Dr.appointment is a good Idea because you used to be overweight and all I will say is I used to have a real high cholesterol 5 years ago, I am 52 yrs old, 6 foot 4 and 220 lbs and never thought I would have a 430 chol number because I was always slender. But i was drinking a lot and eating a lot of junk. Sometimes I would eat chocolate all day long. A whole bag of reeses pb cups was like a meal. I thought if i was still vegetarian I was naturally healthier!
But now I see what I was doing. I was an addict and I quit drinking and went to a health retreat owned by 7th day Adventists They were strict vegans and they were showing me all the additives in food and I cant mention all the things I learned but it’s like there are 3 or 4 foods that can clean out the arteries and lower blood pressure and I said I’ll run an experiment and eat nothing but those foods more or less and it worked because in a year my Cholest went from 430 to 180 and this was without areobics.
They are flaxseed meal, lecithin, olive oil instead of hydrogenated oil, soy milk, Tofu, oatmeal and alfalfa.
And i researched alfalfa and there’s a field of it outside my house so I went out to that field and picked it fresh and green and put it in a blender with filtered water. Strain and drink as much as possible. Alfalfa juice on the rocks! lol
It makes you feel like superman! It really works if you cut out the other stuff we’ve grown accustomed to. It can cure every ailment through nutrition instead of drugs.
I refuse to consume flouride, msg, aspartame and sodium benzoate better known as salt peter. Now I never get tired and i never feel depressed. I know it sound radical but I had to ask myself how much I valued my life.
I have friends juicing alfalfa now and they all tell me the same thing.

It would not hurt to see a cardiologist. My father had his first heart attack at 46…..he was having weird symptoms that he had for a few months….weird sensations in his jaw, and chest pressure. He ended up, at work, feeling sick to his stomach, dizzy…and pain in his jaw and shoulder…went into cardiac arrest. Never had chest pain…….until his 3rd heart attack….the other 2 he just had "that feeling"…not everyone has the same symptoms. He ignored the symptoms….and thank God he is alive today. He has had 5 heart attacks since then….he knows the signs…he was in the hospital last week for angina. Felt the same way as a heart attack…but…it was relieved with aspirin. Please take any type of heart symptoms seriously….do you have a family history of heart disease? Then your most likely to have it. Unfortunately, it’s not a disease that really skips generation…it seems to hit every one…Please see a physician..don’t ignore it…sometime people aren’t as lucky as my dad was…he was at work…and had medical professionals on hand with a defibrillator….my good friends dad, had chest pains for a month that he ignored and died at 44. It’s better to be safe than sorry, I don’t mean to scare you…..I have witnessed it and have been some what educated in that field.
