What is a condition that mimics heart attack symptoms?
June 2nd, 2010 by admin
Not a heart attack, angina, gastro, or anxiety. EKG is clean. Symptoms were chest discomfort, lightheadedness, palpitations, nausea, elevated blood pressure.
Just interested. Know someone who is stumped about this.
Respiratory difficulties too.
Cholesterol is great, it’s not a stroke. It’s not stress.
Isn’t stress and anxiety the same thing?
It’s not me, don’t worry.
Stop saying anxiety.
Orgasm.

Thyroid problems, cholesterol problems, even hormones will do it (estrogen/progesterone-type).

I would say anxiety, but I see that may have been ruled out. Stress can do this to some people.
I agree with judo’s answer and hope you feel better soon.

Vitamin B12 deficiency causes chest discomfort/pain, lightheadness, palpitations/tachycardia and nausea. Most importantly, deficiency in vitamin B12, as well as vitamin B6 and folate increases homocysteine levels in the blood. This is the most toxic chemical your body can produce and is the leading factor of heart attack and stroke. Levels should be 6.3umol/L. Every 3 points above this level is a 35% increased risk for a heart attack. There have been studies that high homocysteine levels may increase blood pressure. That said, blood pressure can be caused by a variety of factors like too much sugar and processed foods in the diet, stress, medications etc.

Edit: Respiratory difficulties are also associated with vitamin B12 deficiency.
Stress is due to the overactivity of our nervous system and abnormal secretion of the hormones adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol. Stress is caused by an existing stress-causing factor or stressor.
Anxiety is stress that continues after that stressor is gone. With anxiety, fear overcomes all emotions accompanied by worry and apprehension.

Acute pericarditis typically produces sharp, stabbing chest pain below the breastbone or on the left side of the chest. For some, the chest pain may be a dull ache or pressure, and it may vary in intensity.
It can occur suddenly or slowly over time without a clear cause. It can develop after a heart attack or with conditions such as a viral infection, connective tissue disease or kidney failure. Whatever the cause, pericarditis usually can be cleared up with anti-inflammatory medications
